How do you create an Omnibook® account?

By logging on omnibook.com, you can create an account with an email address, login and password.
You access your Omnibook® account by logging on to omnibook.com, using your credentials (email address and password), or from a free Omnibook® app, that can be downloaded and synchronized with these same identifiers. The Omnibook® app also allows offline download and playback of Omnibook® account content, with 2-way document synchronization.

Can the Omnibook® identifiers be changed?
Any Omnibook® user has access to his account and is free to edit all fields.
Can you have several Omnibook® accounts?
The uniqueness of an Omnibook® account is based on an email address. A single person can therefore have several Omnibook® accounts, but the system does not provide for synchronization between two accounts and can sanction any misuse of multi-accounts by shutting down the account(s).
How does the forced shutdown of an Omnibook® account work?
For any further information, see the terms and conditions related to your Omnibook® license.
Can you close an Omnibook® account?
An Omnibook® account can be closed with just one click at any time. The user can first retrieve all its content by downloading it or making a backup copy on the device of his choice.
Using such a platform must be expensive?
Omnibook® enables significant economies of scale in all sectors. Moreover, the application is free and a single-user license costs only €60 excl. tax per month.
What do you mean by “document” and what does “enriched document” mean?
A document is a container used to organize content. Within the Omnibook® framework, these contents can be simple or multimedia. You can therefore create all types of documents for all sorts of situations.
Enriched books have multimedia content but may also organize information in a hierarchical structure. For example, you can use: pop-up elements, pop-overs, modals, the possibility to scroll and all the other features of a website. Books bring static content on one level (the page). Notes and explanations are displayed in the footer or at the end of the book.
What is the difference between Omnibook® and my current documents (PDF, PPT, etc.)?

The comparison with PDF is a good illustration. Do you create documents? Do you send them or archive them? Omnibook® serves the same purpose as a PDF but for dynamic, interactive and responsive documents (presentation adapted to various screen sizes). Omnibook® meets accessibility standards and allows for natural referencing.

The PPT is especially for presentations. Omnibook® provides a considerably more effective and pleasing page layout as well as features. The content is responsive and 100% compatible with the Web. Your presentations will definitely stand out from those of your competitors.

In addition, Omnibook® handles all types of documents.

What are the advantages of a dynamic document and hierarchy of content?

Making dynamic documents can capture readers and be more impactful. People are used to computers, cell phones and a mass of digital solutions. Multimedia and a real hierarchical structure to content are now an essential aspect in optimizing the reader’s experience.

A hierarchical grouping visually enhances content and helps to guide the reader. People want to quickly find the information that interests them among the host of content on offer and to be able to go further in depth once they have found what they are looking for. In a text, the authors want to showcase certain elements such as the title, a quote, an image. The hierarchy of the page lets you highlight the title and lead-in to a text, for example, and makes it possible for the reader to click on a link to access the rest of the text only if they are interested. This gives much more force to the title, making it possible to captivate the reader’s attention without their feeling frustrated at having to read everything.

Which file formats does Omnibook® support?
Publications created on Omnibook® use the .book extension, an open format based on web standards xhtml5, css3 and javascript. A .book file is a zip archive that can be downloaded and unzipped. Content can thus be accessed and modified outside of Omnibook®, unless the file's author has used the Omnibook® DRM system that encrypts the content and limits reproduction and transmission of the file. Omnibook® is compatible with webapp, pdf, ePub, kindle, kobo, html, xhtml and all web compatible media (video, photo, animations, audio).
Is Omnibook® compatible with my current tools (databases, social networks, web software, etc.)?

Omnibook® is compatible with:

  • the Web, hence with platforms such as Salesforce.
  • all sources of data (banking, tourism, insurance, product / service catalog, publishing, etc.).
  • social networks. Just one click and your document is available.

Just one click and your document is available.

Which devices and operating systems can be used with Omnibook®?

Omnibook® provides a perfect reading experience on all desktop and laptop computers, tablets, phablets, smartphones and Interactive WhiteBoards.

People frequently use digital devices running different OS. With Omnibook®, you can read your documents on any device you choose. You can therefore work on your Windows computer, move over to your iPhone and finish on your Android tablet. Omnibook® covers 99% of all systems in volume (iOS, MacOS, Windows, Android, Linux), giving us the right to say “all”. And let’s not forget to add the Web, Mac and PC!

What is the size and average loading time for a document created using Omnibook®?
Contrary to what you might think, an Omnibook® document is not larger than a PDF file and it does not take hours to load!
The size is equivalent to that of a PDF file and the features enabling the enrichment of documents are included in the app. The documents are thus relatively small and can be loaded quickly. On the other hand, the more video or 3D images you add, the larger the document will be.
Which languages can you use on Omnibook®?
Omnibook® is compatible with all languages, including Japanese and Arabic. Initially designed for the United Nations, it can be used with all the languages accepted by the Web.
In which format is content exported from Omnibook®?
Omnibook® can export in PDF and ePub formats.
Do readers have to pay or be registered on Omnibook® in order to access my publications?

No and no. Viewing a document created via Omnibook® is totally free of cost and does not require downloading the application. Your reader must however download the application if he wishes to archive the document in his media library and use it offline.

You can decide whatever access you want to give your publication:

  • in your public media library, it will be available for reading on the web, using any device and any browser.
  • by directly sending the publication or a download link (automatically generated from your Omnibook® account): the reader will have to download the free Omnibook® app or go to omnibook.com, available using iOS, Android, MacOS and Windows, in order to open the publication.
What is the point of offline?

Being connected everywhere is not necessarily easy... You should be able to access your documents in all situations, all the time: a presentation at a client’s office, while traveling and even in major cities.

But the main advantage is above all being able to archive your documents. On a website, it’s the administrator who decides how long information is kept. On Omnibook® you enjoy the advantages of a permanent media library, as for paper.

What is the Omnibook® DRM?

The Omnibook® DRM allows a user to :

  • apply an identifier that makes it possible to open a publication.
  • the reader has to use a login and password to access his publication.
  • encrypt the content to prevent any hacking or unwanted reproduction.
  • make it impossible to copy text in read mode.
What is the Omnibook® ACL?

The ACL (Access Control List) makes it possible to control the distribution of a document through an Omnibook® account. The control applies to:

  • the list of recipient(s).
  • the recipients’ rights regarding each publication (or group of publications): the number of downloads, the number of download devices, the possibility of modifying the content, the geographic zoning, the duration of access.
  • the possibility for each recipient to share all or part of their rights with other recipients.
How can I protect my publications?

You can encrypt your publications. Your recipient(s) will be able to decrypt them with a code you provide them with.

You can also apply chrono-degradability. In this case, your contact will have access to the publication for the duration of your choosing, with regard for downloading as well.

You can “tattoo” your publication. Specific codes are then integrated into the publication’s codes.

Finally, you can prevent any reproduction by adding a visual on each of the pages.

Where are my account and Omnibook® media library hosted?
Omnibook® rents servers from specialized companies and automatically selects the place where an account is registered from the user’s country of residence so as to adapt to the policies of personal data and cloud management in force.
What are the backup guarantees for the data of an Omnibook® account?
For any further information, see the terms and conditions related to your Omnibook® license.
Can the content of an Omnibook® account be recovered at any given time?
All content of an Omnibook® account can be downloaded or saved to disk or a private cloud at any given time.
Who owns the publications and content?

Each content distributor remains the owner and is responsible for his content. Omnibook® has no right to use the content distributed, but it does reserve the right to delete content from the Omnibook® platform should it not respect the rules set out in our terms of use.

The templates available in Omnibook® are totally copyright-free as is their media content (photos and videos). Each Omnibook® user can distribute or sell, without limitation, the publications they create using Omnibook® with the templates furnished with their Omnibook® license. But they will not be able to sell, on an individual basis, any images, videos or templates furnished by Omnibook®.

Can I use a private or public cloud (like Dropbox, for example) with an Omnibook® account?

You can save your books to any other storage space in addition to the Omnibook® cloud: you need only create a new media library starting from your Omnibook® account.

N.B.: only the publications stored in your Omnibook® media library (Omnibook® cloud) can be accessed for reading on the web, downloaded and shared with your contacts or synchronized from any of your devices.

If I choose Omnibook®, what happens to my older documents?
Omnibook® is compatible with PDF, ePUB, video, and more.... It provides you with a media library that accepts ALL these documents.
What are the main advantages of Omnibook®?

Omnibook® makes it possible to:

  • stand out from others for the quality and impact of your publications.
  • easily and quickly create quality documents.
  • protect the visual identity of your organization or brand.
  • internalize your creations.
  • distribute your documents simply and in total security.
  • analyze any viewing of your documents.
  • have a personalized area on your clients’ digital devices.
  • easily share documents and work in a team.
  • take advantage of a cost-effective license.
  • be 100% compatible with the Web, PDF and ePUB.
  • be compatible with other platforms and databases.
How does Omnibook® optimize my communication strategy?

Using Omnibook® makes it possible to:

  1. Guarantee the coherence of your brand identity over all media vehicles. Publications no longer need to be drawn up for print (like with PDF) but adapt to the same navigation and design as your digital tools, like the Web. Your contacts find the same navigation and brand identity codes.
  2. Facilitate the connection between all media vehicles and devices. Omnibook® can be compared to a hub. The platform enables a full connection with your print, web, audiovisual and social network publications as well as your CRM, databases, etc.
  3. Create a connection rather than attempting to capture. Publishing on your website implies marketing to bring your targets to your space. With Omnibook®, you can do this as well as “address” your publications directly to your contacts. The recipient, once he has downloaded the application, receives a notification allowing him to download the publication tailored to your brand directly in his media library.
  4. Share, without limitation, with your network. Omnibook® enables you to share and communicate with colleagues, clients or other contacts. Using the application, you can manage contacts as well as organize messages, chats and video conferences.
  5. Analyze and improve. Omnibook® helps you to know and take advantage of the viewing behavior of your contacts. This will let you better understand their expectations and thus modify your strategy accordingly.
Is Omnibook® really different from other systems (PDF, PPT, InDesign, etc.)?

No other system today offers the level of technicality and accessibility of Omnibook®: not the many “legacy” systems (such as PDF and PPT), nor the few systems of the “new generation”. None offer the performance of Omnibook®. Two points highlight its unique performance:

  • an editor that can be used by everyone (wysiwyg).
  • an interoperable reader (offering compatibility with all other operating systems and browsers).

As excellent as it is, InDesign is reserved for professionals who aim to produce print documents (the ePub export does not offer good quality). The reader is the key point in this sector and Adobe relies on the existing ones which are clearly insufficient. The most important point is the lack of openness and compatibility (operating systems and their development). And, finally, Omnibook® makes it possible to simplify sending documents, sharing or working together with your contacts.
Omnibook® was developed in the heart of the digital era and will thus be able to evolve naturally without having to be continuously adapted (in contrast to InDesign).

Is it possible to sell my publications?

Yes, Omnibook® can easily be connected to your online payment interface.

Any user of a Developer license can also create and sell Omnibook® templates and publications.

How is Omnibook® an “open” system?
Current solutions build their economic models on closed solutions by trying to capture a maximum number of users (Apple, Amazon, Kobo, Kindle, etc.). Driven by the IDPF (ePUB) and the W3C (Web), major players in the sector agreed to define a roadmap for digital formats (ePUB followed by PWP). This standard supported by the W3C defines an open space that focuses on documents designed for digital use and that breaks down any barriers which deter the distribution of Knowledge and Information.
How is Omnibook® different from a website?
A website and Omnibook® are totally complementary. A website operates exclusively online and is aimed at making temporary information available. Omnibook® operates online as well as offline and allows readers to store content.Within the framework of a content site, Omnibook® is an interesting alternative to a traditional website. A website has to be complemented by an activity that boosts visibility in order to attract visitors. Omnibook® can send publications directly to your contacts via the application. They receive a notification and then download the publications into their media library.
Is it possible to access an analysis of the views?
Absolutely, and with the same level of detail as for your website.
